@xzd2wj If it is an existing outlet maybe it was installed before the GFCI REQUIREMENT -Then why measure the distance from the sink!

Those receptacle test gadgets will not tell you if there are TWO things wrong (at the same time) in a receptacle. An electrician with a simple tester can!

I find this home inspection not to be complete at all. I agree with the fact that he should have 1st started up stairs and checked: lavs, shower heads, toilets, w/d, etc...and worked his way to the lower levels. And for xzd2wj...for being a certified master inspector, i find it pathetic that you think he's measuring the crush of the carpet-Hes actually measuring riser height. lMAO! i find it hard to believe that someone paid him $400-1000 to check circuits and heat an oven to 350 degrees.

To: "xzd2wj"...you are sadly mistaken. I'm a realtor, and after finding Sam - Vital Inspections, I no longer look elsewhere. Sam is in a completely different league. Bar none, the best I've ever worked with. Intuitive reports, always professional, always detailed, never late, delivers 100% of the time. He is light years beyond any prior I've used. This vid may be cheesy, but any eye can see that it's a quick demo/promo type video and no real inspection. ...What lame ignorant comments here! `Brad

I don't know much about new home inspection but I'm wondering if because its a brand new house, perhaps the stairs have to be a certain width, height and depth. Would that be why he's measuring it?

Unless this is a CODE INSPECTION wrangletooth, he's opening himself up to a lawsuit. I tell my clients that unless the inspection is being done by the city, it IS NOT a code inspection. I have to go back to the measuring of the stairs... That still makes me laugh. He either doesn't know what he's doing or he just wants to waste time and make the video look good. The stairs have to be rough inspected within the building process in order to obtain an occupantcy permit.

wrangletooth. you may no longer look elsewhere, but you will soon if you keep using this guy. Using that tape measure is going to get you both into trouble. That's quoting Code and a no no. I bet he delivers 100% of what you want in a report and 10% of what the buyer needs.

I would give 7/10 for this inspection, he did a lot of great things but he also miss some important issues. Hand rail height wasn't measured ? The guards weren't measured?

MLG107... I wish you would use your brain before you open your mouth. Never assume that just because someone make sarcasm, that you should believe it. I know he's not measuring cruch height of the carpet. If he's measuring the riser height, he's wasting time!! This was already inspected way back when the house was being built. That's part of what's known as a rough inspection. And yes, if the appliances are going with the house, check to make sure that they work, it's not too difficult!
