This album is great, in my opinion.Candy Cane Lane is such a fun and cute song! And I don't think this CD is depressing at all.The songs are country, and less pop-ish, but I think it fits their voices perfectly, especially since there are only 3 of them now.Perfect for a country trio. It's not a loud/noisy album, but the harmonies are flawless.I loved Point of Grace back in 1993, and I love them now!You go girls!Merry Christmas!!

This is such a delightful book!If you missed "The Forgetful Bride" the first time around (in 1991),don't let this one get away! It's one of Debbie's best!

The landscape of the contemporary Christian music genre has changed over the last twenty years, and I for one think it is for the better. Those artists who have lasted the change are the ones who have grown and matured as artists.Point of Grace is one of those examples.I have only three of their albums, all three are their Christmas albums. This album is by far my favorite of the three.

Now, I will add the caveat that I enjoy bluegrass and some country music. This album has a more bluegrass, folk type of feel.It is not over produced or ultra anthemic. To me, it highlights the strengths of the group, such as their tight harmonies, and adds to it a bit of character which makes them more unique.Their voices are more mature, and the instrumentals are very well done.

This seems like one of those love it or hate it albums, though.I predict that those who love it will really love it, and those who don't won't give it the time of day.I for one would recommend this to anyone who has enjoyed this groups maturation and growth over the years. My four year old loves their version of Holly Jolly Christmas.I really enjoyed Labor of Love.Candy Cane Lane is a happy-go-lucky jingle which just brought a smile to my face.

Five Stars out of five because this album does exactly what it was made to do.It tells the Christmas story in an enjoyable, entertaining fashion which made me sad when the music ended.

I almost passed on buying this album because the twenty second audio samples of each song didn't impress me. I am glad I didn't do that because it would have been a huge mistake. "Home For The Holidays" is a wonderful album. The album has 10 tracks. Five songs are traditional and the other five are original songs.

Christmas Story had a pop sound. Winter Wonderland had a jazzy big band sound. This album is country. I am not a country music fan but this album appeals to me. I enjoy how the songs are arranged and POG harmonies are incredible as always. Four of the original songs alone make it worth buying the disc. This is not a disc you will want to play in the car because it is on the mellow side. Then again maybe you would! It is the type of disc you pop in your stereo at home to relax for the holidays while enjoying the tree or sitting by the fireplace.

The five original tracks are "Candy Cane Lane", "Labor Of Love", "Immanuel","Not So Silent Night", and "The Giver And The Gift".

Candy Cane Lane is fun. Hop on the Choo choo and woo woo to Candy Cane Lane. The Giver And The Gift is a beautiful song in both lyrics and music. Here is the chorus of The Giver And The Gift-Come to me, wait no more I give you all you're asking for. Forget the lies this world has told, I'll wrap your life in red and gold. I'm more than just only one night that's holy. I'm your star and I'm your wish. 'Cause I am both the giver and the gift. Lovely song! The bonus is that Jim Brickman plays the piano on this track. If you are a Jim Brickman fan as I am this is an added bonus.

The album also features five traditional songs. Of these four track #1 White Christmas is my favorite. I love the arrangement.

I rate this album a 4/5 because the song "Immanuel" is too similar in theme and lyrics as "Emmanuel God With Us" from Christmas Story. The theme of a woman being by herself and lonely has been done already and I don't like depressing Christmas songs.

If you are a true Point Of Grace fan you will love this. If you are looking for a fresher take on Christmas music I recommend this. If you are rigidly traditional you will be disappointed and if you are expecting a bouncy pop sound you will be disappointed.

Buy this album with an open mind and I think you'll enjoy it. Great work ladies!!

So far the reviews have been split on this album. On the one hand, it does seem to be a little disjointed and doesn't flow as well as some of their other albums - However, It is obvious that they were going for the best, rather than going for a homogenous blend.I like the upbeat more contemporary sound of the familiar standbys. And the new song: "Candy Cane Lane" not only puts a smile on my face but my grand kids LOVE it (hop on the choo choo and woo woo to Candy Cane Lane...right next to Gumdrop street.) It is adorable.

Kareoke?Really? Their vocal harmonies are the best you can get.

Well, that's why they make blue suits and brown suits. You can't please everyone. (But I'm still smiling)

Point of Grace's new CD "Home for the Holidays" definitely has a country feel. When I first listened to it I thought it was rather OK and not anything super great. But the more I listen to this CD, the more I like it!!I love the songs "Labor of Love" and "Not So Silent Night".It has brand new songs and no repeats from other CD's.If you like Christian Country music, then I would definitely get this CD.I'm so glad I did!!

Song Mackiewicz says...
Every year, Debbie Macomber writes the most heart-warming Christmas stories to help readers relax during the busy holiday season. Home for the Holidays provides two good stories that will warm the heart.

The Forgetful Bride is an updated version of a story she wrote in 1991. Cait and Joe were "married" when they were children so that 10-year-old Joe could kiss 8-year-old Caitlin. The bonus Caitlin got out of the quicky marriage was to see the inside of the boys-only clubhouse, providing her with bragging rights around their childhood circle.

Many years later, Cait and Joe unexpectedly meet again. Although Cait has her eyes on an adorable co-worker who doesn't seem to recognize her desire for him, Joe is instantly taken with his childhood "bride". As she loudly protests, Joe insists they are still married and teasingly wants his rights as her husband.

The tug-of-war that ensues will bring a grin to your face if not a chuckle. Enjoy this Christmas time fun battle of the sexes.

When Christmas Comes - This story is a hilarious mix-up that brings out the true meaning of Christmas, whether one wants it or not. Emily traded her Washington home for Charles' Boston condo. Emily's friend Faith unexpectedly decides to visit Emily in Washington, but finds Charles instead. In the meantime, Charles brother decides to visit him in Boston only to find Emily ensconced in the condo.

Throughout the confusion, mixed-messages, and mayhem loves begins to find it's way among these unlikely couples.

Both of these light-hearted stories are just what one needs, along with a cup of hot chocolate, to relax after a busy day of shopping and wrapping gifts. Relax and enjoy the fun.

As a total Christmas Music junkie (and a huge fan of Point of Grace), I was super excited to receive this new release. Sadly, the girls, although still honey-voiced, phoned this effort in. The songs are slow tempo and semi depressing. This is karaoke quality at best. And aside from "Candy Cane Lane," not worth adding to your holiday music collection. Point of Grace's past Christmas releases prove to be far superior. This one? Coal in the stocking.
