Nice little travel clock and will work well for travel.Only problem is seeing it at night. There is a blue backlight button but it's a pain to find in the middle of the night. Posted on November 28, 2010 Demetrius Pestano says... I've been looking for an ideal alarm clock for awhile--something reletively small with easy-to-reach controls and a large LCD display with an on-demand backlight that illuminates well and evenly in the dark. AND I want an alarm that can be set to have the snooze button disable the alarm until the same time next day. (I don't use the snooze feature, and get frustrated with alarms that make me manually switch the alarm off, and then switch it back on for the next morning's alarm.) This alarm clock ALMOST fit my criteria... -Decent-sized display. -Evenly-lit backlight....the only problem is that when you view it in the dark with the backlight on, it COMPLETELY fades out when viewed from slightly below straight-on. And since it is angled upward, if your night-stand is even to your bed, the LCD will be unreadable at night with the backlight on unless you reach over, pick up the alarm, and tilt it to a viewable angle. -The instruction manual SAYS it has an alarm mode and a snooze mode. In the alarm mode, supposedly hitting the snooze button will disable the alarm until the next morning. HOWEVER--It doesn't work like it says in the manual. In that mode, it works exactly like it does in the regular snooze alarm mode--the alarm goes back off in a few minutes, and you eventually have to physically turn off the alarm, and then reactivate it later for the next night---exactly what I didn't want to do. And it's NOT because I'm not following the instructions in the manual--I am. Otherwise, it's a nice little alarm. Atomic feature works as advertised. The crescendo alarm is nice, but not very loud. And it's small, and has a small footprint. I may keep it because it's cheap, but I'll still keep poking around for a more ideal alarm. Posted on November 29, 2010 Lane Czubakowski says... I bought this clock for the small size and large display screen. I liked that it never needs setting and displays date and temp, however these weren't things I was looking for in a clock, they were just bonuses. But I did have the same problem that I saw in another review here. The alarm and snooze features do not work like it says they will in the manual. The first morning I had my clock I got up at 6am while my husband and daughter stayed asleep. I had the snooze feature set and hit it once and it did go off again like it was suppose to. However, in the manual it says to hit any of the bottons on the front of the clock to actually shut the alarm off and it resets itself for the next day. So I hit one of the front buttons thinking I had shut the alarm off, but 5 minutes later it started going off again and I had to make a mad dash from the bathroom to my nightstand to shut it off and keep from waking my husband up. I hit a front button again, thinking maybe I hit the snooze by mistake the first time. Five minutes later, it was going off again. This was frustrating. I had to actually shut the alarm OFF with the appropriate button. After reading the similar review here, I went and got my clock and tried just the alarm feature. It worked exactly like the snooze feature is suppose to. In the alarm mode, my clock goes off again after a few minutes when the snooze button is pushed. However, if you hit a button on the front of the clock, it shuts the alarm off and it appears to still be in alarm mode so I'm guessing it will go off at this time tomorrow. I guess I'll have to wait 'til then to know for sure. Posted on November 30, 2010 Damion Cordner says... I purchsed this clock from another source a couple of months ago. The first set of new alkaline batteries were dead inside a month. The second set of freshly charged NiMH were gone inside two weeks. Last week, even fresh batteries would not get the clock to work. When it did work, the LCD could not be read when laying in bed and the clock was on the nightstand. To be able to read the time you had to first pick up the clock and tip it. I'm writing this review while looking for a replacement. Posted on November 30, 2010 Barbar Droz says... I have just spent another hour of my life trying to reset this clock for daylight savings time.(Yes... I read and re-read the instructions.) My office is where I use this clock and it will not receive a signal here.I took the clock home with me last night so it could "reset" automatically. It did not.It never has.I spent the last hour trying to reset the clock manually. It beeped, it went blank, it reset to factory settings but it never would let me set the time manually. My fingers are actually sore. The clock alarm is not as advertised and the temp never matches either of the other temps in my area.It is always sitting around 74 even when the ranges registered around me are between 64 and 84. The clock is now in my tash can.I wouldn't recommend you buy this clock.Spend a bit more money and get something that works... all the time. Posted on December 1, 2010 Lennie Marris says... As noted elsewhere, has a very limited viewing angle--digits can't be read from other than pretty much dead-on. And the LED display crapped out after about six months, making it impossible to distinguish a "3" from an "8," for example. There must be a better offering on the market. Posted on December 4, 2010 Isreal Geel says... The lcd viewing angle is very poor. When looking at it straight on, the display is almost impossible to read, and when looking from below, the display becomes fuzzy. The only time it is perfectly sharp is when looking at it from above. The light is dimmer that I think it should be and does not help the viewing angle problem. The alarm noise seems to be enough to wake me up, but it may not be loud enough if you are a heavy sleeper. Posted on December 4, 2010 Kathryne Doxtator says... If this clock performed its alarm function as well as it performs its atomic timekeeping function, it would have been a great purchase. But it has a soft alarm, which turns itself off when the time changes over to the next minute. And there's no automatic snooze. I ended up sleeping through it 100% of the time. Sadly, I couldn't return it, but at least here I can voice my dissatisfaction. Posted on December 5, 2010 Pasquale Brownwood says... I've had this as my bedside alarm clock so long that the words are worn off of the buttons. It is absolutely great because it's alway accurate and uses AAA batteries that are found everywhere. I selected it originally because I was tired of clocks that used exotic batteries that couldn't be replaced at the local drug store. Then I found that it set itself each day so I also gained a clock that became my reference for resetting the rest of the clocks in the house after a power failure which is somewhat common in my rural area. It is easy to set up and the instructions are clear. You tell it your time zone, the date, and the approximate time and it takes over from there. It has a snooze alarm bar on top that gives you another five minutes and the button to turn the alarm off is the first on the left so it's easy to find by touch. It's time to change the batteries when the display gets dim.Changing the is a simple pull the old ones out and put the new ones in. It's just an inexpensive clock but it withstands getting knocked from the nightstand (mine clunks when shaken after the last time the cat batted it to the floor last year). It does what a clock is supposed to do very well for a long time.I just added my third or fourth pair of batteries so it's probably five years old or older and still going. If they're all made this well then you can't go wrong.
